    VBS System Tray popup

I have a .vbs which gets AutoRun'd when i plug my USB pen drive in, and performs various actions.

Is there a way from VBS, to get an icon in the system tray temporarily, and have one of those lovely yellow "speech bubble" type popups come from it displaying some custom information?

    Thanks

will look more into this tonight as I am figuring it will be an ocx or activex control deal or something along those lines and you will have to register it on the machine you wish to use it on before you use it in vbscript.

Not with plain VBS but an AutoIt script can do this (and more).

I think the other alternative might be a .hta file. If you're used to writing VBScript then it's not too hard to do hta

Have a look at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en to find out more about HTA

    Re: VBS System Tray popup

There is a real way to do this via the use of VB.

To be able to do as you suggest would require hooks directly into the WIN API and this can not be done effectivley via VBScript.

If you could provide details of what you want the tray app to do I am sure I could knock an .exe up for you if you wish and supply you the could should you wish to change anything in the future.

Sounds interesting and could be useful in some cases, could make a good wiki entry
