    Is This Possible?

I noticed that some software was depolyed through gpo recently to my HS, without my knowledge. It had come from upper magnement. Now I am forced from complaining teachers that there are shortcuts on the desktop that do not need to be there. My question is. Is there a script that can be run on login or logoff, to delete only these certain shortcuts from the all user folder???

    Thanks

Upper Management has the ability to install software across the site without your knowledge? However all you really need is a basic delete command something like this:

    c:
    cd\documents and settings\all users\desktop
    del filename.lnk /Q /F

try that in a batch file first and make sure then put it in the startup scripts.

But only if you want to get sacked. If "upper magnement" (sic) deploy something, who are you to remove it?

    What's an HS ?

And like the others - if "upper management" have deployed something then why do you want to remove it.

Who is upper management - is this your network manager?

    Re: Is This Possible?

I would hazard a guess that HS stands for High School

Odd how Upper Management (I assume SMT?) seemto over rule you but as SimpleSi said - who are Upper Management.

If the software isn't problematic or causing a problem then I'd leave as is

Also - since when did teachers know what shortcuts do and do not belong on their desktops?? - The ones at my school don't eeven see them! let alone know what they do.

    Re: Is This Possible?

I agree with GATT if the software works why rock the boat.

Teachers are always saying they don't like this or that, just agree with them and tell them you look into it maybe even right it down on a piece of paper and then "file it"

What really shocks me is that "Upper Management" has the ability to deply via GPO what they like. WOW !

    Re: Is This Possible?

Depending on the setup there, it could have been pushed out from central IT, unless there's an IT Director or similar who is familiar with GPO. If its internal, ask them why they didnt consult you. The "upper management" was a bit vague. more details?

    Re: Is This Possible?

Well if its the NM fair enough but if it's SMT? Why would they want to deploy software not a very SMT job role?

@Andrew_C: if you only remove the links it wouldn't matter and no SMT in the country would be able to fire you for it
