    Add Font To Domain Computers

    Hi Guy's,

I need to add a new font to all domain computers.

I have created a batch file with the following:

    copy \\SERVER AND FILE PATH\FONT NAME.ttf c:\windows\fonts

I have added this into the computer startup but it does not copy the font over...

    Any ideas?!

    Thanks!

Try running the command line from DOS to see if you get any helpful error message. My first thought is that it is a rights question, either on \\server\file_path or C:\Windows.

You can`t just copy the font file, there is also a reg key, I think I saw a vb script that did this, but can`t google it at the moment. I suspect the copy is working correctly hence no error messages.

youll probably find that it has to do with permissions, if you log in as admin into one of the computers running the bat file it will copy the font across. however students who should have restricted c drive access it wont work for.

    1. If it's in the Computer startup script then the computer's AD account must have access to the share. Easiest way to do that is grant Read access to Everyone or Authenticated Users.
    2. As robk mentioned, there's a also a registry key you'll need. You may not have noticed this since if you copy the file over and then open the Fonts folder with an admin account (which one would naturally do to see if it had installed), it will automatically update, but if you copy the font over and then just open Word, the font will be missing. You'll find the appropriate entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts

If you have gaps in your path you need to put quotation marks around the path.

    For example

    "\\server\font one"
