Remote Script to only operate against powered-on machines
One of the problems of running a script against a list of machines is that some may not be on. Furthermore a POST error may defeat WoL.
Does anybody have a template for checking for a script that only operates only machines that repond to a ping perhaps?
TIA

You could get a list of machines from a net view command and parse that list although that might not be too reliable. You can also use WMI to ping as well but I have never tried it.

Have a look at the fastpush script for installing vnc to remote machines this checks first to see if a machine is alive if it's not it doesn't attempt to install to it and will loop to the next machine in a list.
