    Office 2003-2007 shortcuts

    Hi

    We run Office 2003 and 2007 on the same network. It would be great to just have one icon and linked to a script that automatically opens Word 2003 if it exists on the harddrive or goes on and opens Word 2007 if that exists instead.

    Is anyone out there good at VB who could write something nice and neat? :-)

    Thanks

    J.

    You could try this...

    Code:
    dim objWord

    set objWord = CreateObject("Word.Application")
    objWord.Visible = True
    This should launch the 'default' version of Word, assuming it is installed. To launch a specific version, you can specify "Word.Application.12" for Word 2007 or "Word.Application.11" for Word 2003 etc.

    Hi Andy

    I've tried this and also with Excel and Access - on my laptop the just appear in the taskbar and then close again after about 1/2 second - using Win 7 here at home.

    thanks

    I cannot test on my Win 7 box as I don't have Office installed, but it works fine on my XP laptop. Odd thing is, I didn't really expect it to! The behaviour you are seeing is what I would expect, I just tried it on a whim and it seemed to work! Do you need something that will work on 7 ?

    You could also create a junction point so that C:\Program Files\Office11 and C:\Program Files\Office12 both point to C:\Program Files\Office
