    Probably very badly done, but it works - PC and monitor audit script.

    I've managed to hack together a script (VBS) that prompts for a PC name, and then dumps to excel a list of the tech info (Name, MAC, CPU, Speed, RAM, TFT Serial Number and make) for that machine. I've used others scripts to do it, but couldn't find one that combined the monitor AND PC data.

    I'm no programmer - the script runs fine, and does what I need it to do - it's allowed me to audit this building in 30 minutes. However, the code may make people wince!

    I've attached it to this post - hope someone finds it useful - I know I do!

    Screen info script section uses the EDID VESA values - thus far, it seems accurate. In the case of our dells, it takes out some sections of the serial, but they're easy to add when we need to. More than enough accurate data is grabbed to enable us to inventory the screen though. Here's a sample:

    VTC-XXX-X Dell Inc. precision t1650 XXX0YX1 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3401 Ghz 90:B1:1C:A2:2E:A9 DELL P2212H V0VCM33A269U DEL Mar-13 - last 4 fields are the TFT info.

    re: XP - ah. Doesn't surprise me. As I say, I'm no programmer - I just hacked it all together so that it runs nicely on our Win7 system here.

    change
    strComputer = InputBox("Check Monitor info for what PC","PC Name?",strComputer)
    to
    strComputer = "."
    (assuming running locally) and i get back

    I think @sted created a script that uses AD to gather the same sort of info when anyone logs in on the domain it adds the info to the computer account in AD and also had an option to create a spreadsheet.

    If I can find the forum I will add a link as it works very well.
