Becta Self-Review Framework
We are in the process of preparing to renew our ICT Mark. The ICT department have been completing the self-review framework and have passed on a few bits to me.
Below are the questions I need to answer, anyone have any additional thoughts?
7b-2 Access - Technical Support
Technical support is provided and managed effectively by specialist staff to support teachers and pupils and to minimise the disruption to learning caused by technical problems. Systems are in place to manage and monitor the performance of technical support.
Quote:
ICT support is provided by a team of 4 dedicated and highly qualified staff, each with a clear role within the team. Preventative maintainance and automated monitoring is used to ensure minimal disruption. All major projects are undertaken outside of term time to reduce downtime for teachers and pupils.
An annual self evaluation process is used to monitor and manage technical support, including staff and pupil surveys.
7c-1 Management - Procurement
ICT resources are procured following best practice guidelines. This is part of a systemtic approach to providing sustainable resources and services to meet the school's vision, in line with the school's current and future needs and to provide value for money.
Quote:
Where ever possible ICT purchases are only made by the ICT Technical Team Leader who, where ever possible, tries to achieve best value. This includes using BECTA framworks, Catalyst suppliers, BESA approved suppliers and regionally agreed EU procurement frameworks e.g. YPO.
Sustainability is achieved by using a TCO system to inform the renewal requirements of the ICT stategic plan. Pooling of resources and minimising waste is used when possible to reduce costs.
7c-2 Management - Evaluation of ICT resources
The outcomes of the systematic and widespread monitoring and evaluation of the ICT resources both within and beyond the school, underpin the ongoing procurement strategy.
Quote:
Evaluation of resource usage within the school is carried out annually through the analysis of room booking records and printer usage. Monitoring of infrasturcture is a continuous process through automated system. Resources beyond the school are monitored where possible.
These results are feedback via the ICT steering group to inform the ICT strategic plan and the TCO system.
Thoughts, ideas, comparisons all welcome.

I refer you to FITS documentation

Re: Becta Self-Review Framework
Also try and work in about the impact the support team has when supporting staff and students. Try and make sure that this is tied in with evidence you have put in the leadership sections.
If you have a look on the ICT Register you can see services that have been assigned against the various sections ... this can help you with wording.

@GrumbleDook: Thanks for reminding me about the ICT register, I'll have a look...

@Steve
Try and get in touch with the Focus School in your region which is Beverley High School as they are more than happy to help out EduGeek members.
