I'm sorry where the HELL do they get there info from? I always thought Becta was a group of monkeys. They claim a typical Primary School will cost £4000 to move to Office 2007, and £26,000 for a typical high school?
How many primary schools do you know with 130 workstations or 800 workstations in a "typical" high school. ?
We have 790 workstations in our secondary school, but we have no plans whatsoever to roll out VIsta. Come to think of it around 200 of our PC's wont run it.
In purely licensing costs of Office 2k3 we spent over £18k
That does not count the cost of training, deployment and upgrades to hardware other licensing costs or compatibility problems.
I'd say £26k was far less than we spent in total.
Cybernerd, how many office licenses did you buy? Either you have a lot of workstations, or you were overcharged for your licenses.
Point taken though regarding upgrades / training etc.
We have 650 Machines, but for reasons unbeknown to me we have only 550 licenses ? IIRC ramesys chucked some cals into the deal as well.
Ah right - so you do have a large number of pcs.
We have maybe 250 including laptops here.
That explains your upgrade costs.
