I just don't understand what it's on about half the time!

What is it?

You don't want to know.
SRF - Self Review Framework.
It allows SMT or, in my case, the ICT coordiantor to audit how well the school is doing in terms of ICT. (planning, making it available to pupils etc... ) Then you can make an action plan.
Nah.... if they allowed it to be anonymous they maybe I would ... but what I believe might be happening is that you are showing BECTA how your school ICT is run and the head might get a phone call if you are not up to BECTA specs...
You can do it anonymously - you can fill it in without registering. Even if you do register, you don't have to fill in your school's details -you can just tick you are an interested party or something.
You should already be telling ofsted how your school is running ICT through the SEF, which your head must fill in. Ofsted's primary remit is (supposedly) now to check that the school's self evaluation is correct. For example, in our ofsted, we were criticised because we were claiming to be an all singing all dancing healthy school but the kids were eating crisps and, when asked, they apparently didn't know that they were un healthy! Obviously, in that area, we weren’t self-evaluating correctly!
Although Ofsted claim you don't have to fill it in, I imagine that if you do, and do so accurately, you are showing that you are self evaluating. If you don't fill it in, then you're going to have to self evaluate in a different way.
That's the theory anyway!

I intend to work on this with a couple of other members of staff as we strive towards the ICT Mark. We'll see what happens though.
Good point about the SEF eean, I hadn't thought of it like that. We are a way off hitting the ICT Mark, mainly because of community involvement and a couple of other areas, which require SMT in my school to take action. I don't feel I can personally do any more to move us forward and SMT are not showing any real interest.
(note to ric, have you tried becoming a bowl of petunias yet?)
