I'm trying to cobble together a Staff Acceptable Use Policy. Does anyone have anything drawn up that I can use? and/or please add suggestions for inclusion.
I have a few ideas for things I need to include:
1. password security
2. data protection issues esp. with regard to students using staff logins/ knowing staff usernames and passwords
3. data protection/security for laptops etc removed from premises
4. student protection - rules of internet publishing
5. monitoring IT use
6. reporting incidents + school procedures
7. software installation/ licencing
[North Chadderton have a staff AUP which can be seen here: http://www.webschool.org.uk/aup.htm ]
Draft something up and post it on the wiki then we can collectively fix it.

The Becta website has some useful resources about the data protection act - free paper copies can be ordered too.
The safety.ngfl site also has some guidelines here: http://safety.ngfl.gov.uk/schools/document.php3?D=d56
and here: http://safety.ngfl.gov.uk/schools/pdf/d56.pdf
Ok i've started my Teaching Staff AUP on the WIKI here: http://www.russdev.com/edugeek/doku.php?id=staff_aup
[It's under School IT Policies > AUP's > Staff AUP]
Please add your 2p![]()
Bump!

Lookin good mark
I wonder...
How many school havent got Staff AUP's? I pretty much think that we dont have one or that no staff members have signed one if we do have one

[night is for sleepin' dontcha-know!]
No idea how i'm going to get everybody to sign tho' - y'know what teachers are like - not the most co-operative of types!
If I just have a forced acceptance at logon, that covered both kids and teachers, and refferred to thier respective AUP document, do you recon that would be alright?
Seems to work for EULA's on software installs![]()
I also stumbled across and intresting (although dated) essay on AUP's in educational establishments. Its focus is on American schools but I doubt that matters much.

to get them to sign it you goto sluts (sorry slt) and say if somone dose not sign it there login is disabled but then i'm head strong

Phew! - piles of stuff there!Originally Posted by Geoff

Power to the support staff lol
but back on topic...
I agree mark that it aint gonna be easy getting them to sign anything, but the forced acceptance at logon is muuuuch nicer because they're gonna have to log on to the system....No idea how i'm going to get everybody to sign tho' - y'know what teachers are like - not the most co-operative of types!

So cunning that we'll have to win *this* one lol.

Ok, a couple of possibles here...Originally Posted by mark
Firstly, you've already posted the link to your solution. Using the AUP logon acceptance program in the downloads forum. The only problem is... how to have different AUPs for staff and pupils. Two separate installs!
All you need to do is put the relevant .rtf or .txt file in each install, then either use separate Start Menu's for staff & pupils using Folder Redirection, or knock up a suitable logon script to work out who's logging on & run the correct install.
Well, it was just a thought...![]()
Thanks Russ. I recon the one text [in the logon prog] would cover all users - staff and students. I intend to do both - force signing of AUPs - account disabled until letter recieved, and click to accept at every logon.
Interesting I just learnt [thanks Geoff!] that consent to intercept email is required by law - so that'll go into both.
