    AUP vs SLT

    Well it happened again..

I had my AUP all drawn up and submitted to SLT a good month before we broke for summer with the assurance it would be sent out..

Guess what - they sat on it, and didn't send it out..

So kids are back and already the wanton destruction of the ICT equipment has begun..

Trying to get SLT to even give me a straight answer on this is akin to getting blood from a stone..

Any advise on how I can get SLT to take me seriously on the AUP?

I did that and was dumped on for not looking after my ICT Suites as at the end of the day AUP or no AUP the ICT Manager is responsible for the suites and should boot out bad classes

Explain that without aup the head could be open to prosecution for child protection issues.

Really? Surely that's down to the teacher who took the class in there?

The state of ICT suites does not come down to the network manager - it is down to the teachers who use the class rooms. You cannot be expected to be in the rooms to monitor their condition at all times, as you have an actual job to do.

The state of *any* class is down to classroom management

If only!!! Apparently its our job at the end of every day, where we haven't done much really but drink tea because thats what IT Support Staff do all day, to check that the letters on the keyboards dont spell something rude, the monitors are plugged in and have been cleaned - Not the teachers who spend all day in the classroom.

A local secondary school has just been deemed "unsatisfactory" for issues such as this by Ofsted. This might move the SLT away from inaction.
