Has anyone heard of a supplier called idns? web: www.idns.co.uk. I had a sales call this morning from a cuy who is offering Promethean whiteboard pens at £14.99 and a whole installation at just over £2k
Any good or bad things?

We've been buying Promethean pens from there - no problems. Haven't had any big installs or anything tho. Promethean are doing the pens at 2 for £30 now, or 5 for 60 10 for 100. I rang my usual contact at IDN and he quoted me £14 each for 2 :)
Andy.
Brilliant. Thanks. Good to know I don't have to pay Promethean's silly prices
Yep .. been using IDNS for some time ... Ben is a top bloke and has been one of our regular suppliers for some time now (and in my last place too).
The only slight niggle I have - and it's nothing to do with them: whenever they ring up for me - the office tell me it's IBM!
:)
Andy.
... they're well known here for pestering our poor receptionist to death. They're a company who definitely believe in persistence, I'll give them that!!
(and no, I haven't used them yet)
Isn't 10 for a £100, £10 each and cheaper than £14 ?
Yeah but most of the time you wouldn't buy 10 pens if you only want two?
Wes
It certainly is, but £28 is also cheaper than £100 and will get me more than what I actually need. Especially as, just before Christmas (and just before the price drop) we bought a shed load of pens for various departments! And we are all, I'll bet, currently in the same boat of barely having 2 ha'pennies to rub together (nevermind two quid!). Roll on April :)Quote:

They are too fat, and they have a different feel for the click as well as the using of them. They have refused to have them in some cases, so I hope Promethean are taking note! Bring back the black pens with the white end on them as the grey / orange ones are shocking! I hate using them as do the staff. They may be good for primary users, but for secondary they are not popular with us at all and I am trying to source the black ones. If anyone has a black pen kicking around, I am happy to swap for a orange / grey one brand new for brand new.
Black pens are like gold dust here too! When I first spoke to IDN they were able to offer me a choice of three colours: Grey/Orange, I presume Blue/yellow (the pens from the primary board), and I can only presume black?
Regards the click, the first Grey/Orange ones 'clicked' just like the black ones. The new ones seem to have developed a 'none click' technique. Which is a shame because feeling the 'click' was part of my training spiel to staff! At first I thought we had bought cheap imitations from IDN, but the next boards we bought from Promethean did the same. Oh well, something else to get used to!
:)
Andy.
I have a much better solution, not getting any more Promethean boards until they bring back that pen :D Just going to order 10 smarts instead for my next phase.
I admit, Promethean are not my favourite company (HP come above them) but this is just another reason why I will not be suggesting there products to any school at present as for the simplicity of keeping making 4 pen types, I know its annoyed a few schools the lack of the nice black pen. Also I gave out one of the new style orange/grey pens to a member of staff today, they came back within 10 minutes, I think its broken, it does not click and seems far too sensitive when writing. I can see the fun coming up, I am going to have to re-train them all again on how these new pens work just in case they end up with them over a black one.
As for IDN getting me them, they tried hard and got me them, they sent me a photo and they could offer 3 colours, grey/orange, blue/yellow and another colour and all were the silly fat size. So I sent them mine and they were like that looks a good design is it not a promethean one! But they did find me them, and they were only made / tested about April last year so they only just recently stopped making them.
I would like to think that Dan will go back to management and say just bring that pen back!
I have passed your comments on.
Excellent Dan, I am sure we are all please you have done that, I hope they do come back. On a side note you have not got any black ones tucked in a draw somewhere have you????
I bet I'll get there first!! ;)
