    AV Installations

    Hi all

I'm just wondering who you all use for your projector / interactive whiteboard installations and what sort of prices you pay? We are looking to link up with a new company to provide this service so I'm just trying to find out who you would all recommend.

    Any info would be appreciated

    Cheers!

GV Multimedia, prices obviously vary depending on the job. Our ACTIVboards have been installed by both Promethean and The IT Support Centre.

It depends. We do our own replacements of smartboards but if we are installing into a new room, including projector stuff then in the past we have used a company called 'TME'. Their labour costs are quite low and the workmanship is quite good.

However, as we haven't had a quote for an install by another company we can't compare really - but I am going to be asking European Electonique to quote us in the new financial year.

Do you need any sort of certification or H/S stuff done for self installing Whiteboards/Projectors/etc?

    Re: AV Installations

The usual H/S stuff regarding ladders and electrics, but no formal certification in installing whiteboards/projectors as far as I know. Hell the whiteboard is nothing more than one bracket drilled into a wall and then hang the whiteboard on it, god help society if we need a certificate to do that. Wiring a plug is actually more complex and dangerous than that

Give Matrix Displays a try. We have for the past year. Very good service and the installation team is top notch in my area.

DIY it, just go on the ladders / scaffy course and your done. Your site manager will know about asbestos etc and they are often the asbestos managers for the site so talk to them and you will be fine. Don't forget to do a RA though and file it for safety.

( I am employed by EE)

I recommend EE, we had a team come out from EE and they did a superb job , only had the one team, so cant say if its company wide, but the pair we had were very impressive.

I'd be a bit more bothered about the ceiling mounted projector! Those poles weigh a ton. I'm seem to recall a case somewhere where one fell off. Don't think anyone was hurt, but I'm pretty sure they'd kill someone if it landed on them.

They don't fall off if you put them up right

We test it by hanging on it, if it can take Jake and myselfs weight on it it is never going to come down.
