    Out of interest will someone else from CP be manning edugeek from now on? I've somehow never actually dealt with Simon(Joe's always handled our orders) but its been good to see a representative from a supplier engaged so much in an online forum. Its the personal touches that make CP LTD such a good supplier IMO

    I find that quite annoying. I don't think staff should be allowed to take customers contact details away and use them... but they do and you end up with a random call from their new company.

    It would also surely be against the Data Protection Act to use that data for such purposes as your data is confidential to that company and for a former employee to take that database / contact list is highly dodgy, if that is occurring I would be suggesting you seek further advice on the matters. I certainly wouldn't be impressed by people doing that!

    TBH how would you know? I mean you cannot stop people remembering who they spoke to at a company and calling them if they are in a new venture that that person might be interested in?
    This is people's livelihood - you can't say that the person cannot deal with ANYONE he has dealt with before if his new company is in the same industry. It would be unreasonable

    No, but surely the first contact in such cases should be made by the customer and not the salesman.

    I believe that only personal information is covered by DP - so a list of phone numbers all marked against IT Manager at Sucha School would not be covered by the DPA
