Adobe Photoshop - versions and pricing
Before you all jump at me and say "The GIMP, The GIMP!", I've already asked my graphics teacher to evaluate The GIMP and give me his opinion. In the meantime, I need to get some prices for Adobe Photoshop.
Has anyone bought this recently, and if so, can you recommend a supplier and give me an idea of price? What version did you get? (9? CS2?)
I'm hoping to go back with the best price possible, only for the teacher to say "nah, we'll stick with The GIMP". Let's hope!!

CS2 from a large MS partner software reseller - who managed to sell us something with ELC's then 'accidentally' shipped up CS2 licenses instead (thereby illegally using ringfenced government money, putting another nail in the school OSS coffin and forcing any student who want to try it at home to either buy or pirate).
/rant
IIRC they were about £30 ea.

We bought CS2 full educational version, but we paid £130 per unit, we also use The Gimp. We thought the important thing was that if pupils need a drawing package is to get them to actually use the proper software they will use in the real world.

GZ
I might be wrong about the £30 - I was annoyed by the underhand tactic of MS partners to pay too much attention to the actual cost.

Re: Adobe Photoshop - versions and pricing
Watch out for Adobe CS2 products and their obnoxious activation. I've found if you restore a PC from a sysprepped Ghost image, the Adobe Software will require reactivation. Heck, even when I've moved from a single drive to RAID-1 configuration on my own PC or even added an extra hard drive, I've ended up reactivating.
Just some gotchas to be aware of when rolling the software out!
