Worth noting that Stone are a SmoothWall partner - we heard good things, and they are a BECTA framework supplier, so it is a good match!

Quick note...we're still using stone for PCs and laptops and still happy.

Also I filled in a "how green are you" survey at BETT on the Stone stand and Richard let me have a green piggy bank. Password reset cash has never looked so cool

Stone are excellent -we use them too. Excellent products and support.

My NM who spent time at Bett with our account rep and regional team manager - said they were talking about Stone's new monitors which are 'green' for the environment (they sound good)...and also itx's - really small form factor machines.

    Looking good.

HI Stone have good after sales and are in general good machines first time. They have my approval and I would recommend them.

    Stone computers

I have a Rock xtreme 64 and it has a problem. It was repaired and returned with the same problem. it was sent back and signed off as repaired, then Stone noticed the problem, so they fixed it, signed it off again and sent it back. It still had the same problem so it went back. They said they had no idea what was the cause and would change the base. I asked what that meant and they said all I would have left of my old laptop would be the hard drive and the lid. I asked about the motherbpaord and they said that would be new. It came back, still with the same problem.
However, whilst the jobsheet was signed to say the work had been done, what I got back was like something out of a skip. The keyboard was second-hand, showing wear marks, having cat hairs under the keys and having brown food squeegeed under and in between most of the keys and with paint scraped off the keyboard base leaving bright metal shining through. Around the speakers, paint has been scretched off. As for the new motherboard; it was made in 2005. All the ports are integral to this motherboard and many show signs of considerable wear.
So, Stone do not know how to fix certain faults.
Stone fix warranty claims with second-hand parts.
Stone lie about the work done.
And, guess what, they want me to send the computer back to them! I have asked for a replacement and they have refused.
If anybody is in doubt about Stone, my advice, based on experience, is stay well away. I hope this posting saves somebody else the stuffing I have experienced.

We've been having problems with a faulty batch of Microsoft Multimedia V1.0 keyboards. After a year of sending them back and forth Stone have just replaced all 69 of them.

They are brilliant. Top marks for our sales guy.

Stone have the contract with Swansea LEA. Thought I would chuck that in.

Although we deal with them direct because we order a better spec (when I have money).... (if I have money)....ZZZzzzzzz (money? am I dreaming)

Ahh yes I can see why the keyboards are a cause for concern - however Microsoft admitted there was a problem with the batch and released a statement. Maybe others here had it as well.

We should have pushed to have the all replaced from the beginning but they were only failing in dribs and drabs. Now we have got rid of them all.

So it wasn't a Stone issue - but they agreed to replace them all for us.
