    Re: Thin client solution

We have some Igel units, which are not bad. We purchased them about 6 years ago now. The machine that we currently buy are from Precedence (ThinIT TCX). The footprint on these machine is incredably small. I think the processors are 1ghz, put the machine together with a TFT hard screen & you have a very nice setup. They boot very fast & run very well. Precedence also have a thin client wireless laptop available. We haven't tried these, but I suspect they will run as well as the ThinIT TCX machines.
We used to purchase ThinTune, which are also nice machines, however I have had some problems with the NIC ports. I have had to replace about ten ports so far. These are easy enough to replace, if you don't mind dismanteling the machine & removing the old port & soldering a new one in it's place.
I think we will stick with the ThinIT TCX's, very nice thin client solution.

    Re: Thin client solution

I would have to recommend a company called Dataspire. Been to seen a few of their reference sites now and have been extremely impressed.

They specialise in education so really seem to understand what a school solution requires.

I was worried about multimedia and thin client but after witnessing their solutions delivering video and sound throughout the whole school using thin client I now know it will work.

They have developed some great client software also for connecting to the servers for old PCs. They have offered this software to us for free as part of the solution so make sure you ask for the same!

    Goto www.dataspire.co.uk

We are dealing with a guy called Adam.

Apologies if it sounded like a sales pitch - wasnt intended.

I have just found it refreshing to come across a good company. We have had such a mix of experiences with suppliers these last couple of years.

Can't access their site anyway, it requires Flash and doesn't offer a text-based alternative.
