Any recommendations for music system for school hall? Help!
Hi all,
I'm a newbie so hope that it's ok to post this!
My headteacher has asked me to find a new music system for school hall.
The Criteria as requested from her:
Small must fit on shelf!
Must play audio tapes
Must play CD's
Must connect to are current speakers on wall
Supplier will need to accept school purchase order.
I'm not bad on the ICT side but this is an area I know little about :? !!
Any help greatly received!
Many thanks

Hi kfq61. Not sure how far they will travel for jobs, but we used GV Multimedia for our halls multimedia systems. We are very pleased with their setup and should be able to tailor something to your needs.

First of all, do you need an amplifier or is there one already there? Second, how old are the speakers on the wall? (This is important as if you haven't already got an amplifier, newer amplifiers could be too powerful for older speakers.) Third, you say that it must play audio CDs and Tapes. What about public speaking? Do they use a microphone in assemblies?
You can buy a tape and CD player in one unit. Sounds like that is what you could do with.
The company who installed ours is called Rythm of Life, but again you would be better finding somebody locally, so they can support you if it stops working!
If you are particularly interested, I can give you the make and model numbers of the Amplifier and CD/Tape player we have got.

GV Multimedia are very good, basically, if you get in contact with their sales team, they'll come out, see what you need, price it up, etc etc, they even do the install if that's what you want, and they give you what you want, without going overboard with an "all these extras!" shpeel.
We buy all of our digital projectors from them.

Pop across here (The Blue Room) and have a read of the faq, then ask specific questions. This forum is inhabited by professional theatre technicians as well as a few school techs (like me!). We welcome newbies, so long as they read the faq, browse, and search before asking! This sort of thing has been covered in the past, there is some advice in there.
It would help to know where you are too.

Thanks all!
We do have amplifier but will need to now check it out!
Like the idea about some-one actually coming out to see what we already have so I'll approach the companies mentioned!
Cheers and thanks for your help!!
