I'm not even going to go into the arguments I've had with them after they took a projector in for warranty repair, kept it for 3 months (during which time its warranty ran out), returned it to me only for the thing to go wrong again. At which point they wanted to charge!
Anyway. This new projector looks pretty funky and, if they can sort their reliability problems, it could be an interesting buy for schools.

That relies on thieves knowing about such things. Everyone knows about car stereo security features because it was such a chronic problem and everyones got one. Have you got a XGA DLP projector at home? I certainly haven't!

@Geoff: I will be buying an XGA DLP projector for home use soon - not a Sahara one though (inFocus more than likely).
@ChrisH: But it's bright orange!!!

We have some Sahara and you can never seem to get the text crisp - always looks as if it is interpolated even though I've had it set to it's native resolution.
I like the idea of the orange projector with the removable panel though - anyone else do this?

I'm sorry, but I have to agree with Chris; it's a sahara projector.... in orange!

Sahara ... hmm ... "that'll be £457.54 to fit a new bulb"
But it is in warranty
"but not ir we have to reballast it ... we don't get those bulbs anymore and we have to put a different one in ... "
But we can get a new projector for that price
"fine ... we'll send it back to you then ... that'll be £150 for labour and postage"
How do you work that out?
"we have to put down £50 labour and £50 for shipping each way including insurance in case it breaks"
But we paid for it to go to you ... and we don't care if it breaks on the way back and you haven't done anything to it that means you can charge us labour ... do you want to rethink your answer and send it back to us?
2 days later it arrives with a note of apology ... and we find that a student has knackered another one of these making it unusable (we will bill him for a new projector) and we could just use that bulb.
Sahara? Don't care it if is bright purple with flashing neon lights ... never again ...
You'll get DB buying from Stone first.

That is very true - but after they have nicked them and then realise that they won't work without the control panel thing it will be unlikely that the same thieves would steal projectors from that institution again.
Pete
PS Although a new set of theiverererers would not know that!

I find the biggest problem with Stone is Intel Motherboards - they are shocking board! Even Intels own marketing team admit it as I am a OEM partner person with them and they asked what boards I used, I said anything but Intel, and he said fine, I don't blame you as they are quite frankly rubbish boards! So I agreed with him. The support that I had from them was good, quick, polite and not an Indian call centre with poor English skills. But just wish they would ditch the intel boards.

I've never used Sahara projectors, but our borough are really pushing them at the moment. I notice this thread was started quite a while ago and people are generally unhappy with, but has anyone on here had any experience with the new orange ones? Do they still have quality problems as mentioned above?
Cheers.
