Some Gratuitous Raspberry Pi Macro Shots

I spent a rather pleasant few hours in the company of Frambozenbier last night and they very kindly brought along their Pi for a photo shoot, and seeing as there are (as of yet) no real close-ups of the beasts components currently available online we subjected it to half an hour of macro photography in the pub/restaurant we were meeting at. The Pi is resting on a W8 tablet running Woopra if anyone is interested and the lighting gives it a nice moody feel.



I took about 60+ close up pictures of the Raspberry Pi, but some will need a little tweaking before they see the light of day.

Two things I did notice on there which I was not previously aware of are the ribbon connectors. As the RP chipset is very closely related to a version which powers smart phones these ribbon connectors will be used (apparently) to connect cameras and other equipment usually found in phones in the future.

I'm starting to get the additional crap together to run the beast, bought a little htpc keyboard and track pad which is aparently driver free in every linux distro they've tried it on, i'm going to try my luck with the transcend 16gb class 10 sdhc thats listed as verified, i've got a class 4 thats on the list just in case. I'll worry about the wireless later.

I'm intrigued/excited by the ribbon cables though...

Yeah we noticed those too when playing with it, I hadn't heard anything officially mentioned, until Eben said this in a post about the schematic released today:

[...] provide the information you need to build add-on boards which attach to the GPIO expansion connector and (in due course) the display and camera connectors.

I'm assuming the "display and camera connectors" refer to the two ribbon connectors that are mounted!

I was also shocked to find my GPIO pins were mounted; I thought the plan was not to do that?
