I got the invitation to order mine today so looking forward to getting that. Im definately thinking something for the car, power by USB from the cigarette lighter, wifi can come from the 3G hotspot on my mobile phone, and ive also got a gps usb. Powering a display might be a problem though.

I compiled OpenELEC from source the other day - it runs beautifully on the R-Pi, I was genuinely shocked how nice it ran.
Playing the staple Big Buck Bunny, there was absolutely zero sign of lag or stuttering. Menus became a little slow to respond during play back, and fast forwarding gave you some artifacting whilst it caught up to buffer (but you get that even on high end desktops), but this version hasn't been optimized yet so it can only get better...

@sted - well we saw a few in action today at Edit2012 and they were doing all sorts
The Home - www.frambozenbier.org - raspberry pi homebrew news and tutorials crew did say things could be a little slow to load but once up and running everything looked smooth
I think there are a few OS variations out so might be worth trying another one
(Still waiting but at least had my hands on one today )
