I have an issue with ActiveInspire (18.104.22.168) under Windows 7 Professional 32bit when using a Prolific USB-Serial Converter on an Activboard.
The USB-Serial Converter is using the latest (known good) drivers and talks fine to a serial datalogger (for example).
The laptop will connect happily to an Activboard using a USB lead.
When using the USB-Serial converter, ActivInspire declares that it's connected to the board, but doesn't pick up the pen at all. Clicking "disconnect" or trying to make other changes to the connection dialogue causes the machine to hang and become unresponsive until it's rebooted. Once rebooted it connects ok and detects the pen.
So: Are USB-Serial converters supported with Windows 7 and ActiveInspire (I know the long term solution is to just fit the usb leads) and is there any info on where I should be looking (log file?) to work out why it hangs, short of hoping for a memory dump?
Unfortunately Promethean only support the use of Keyspan Adapters - you could try running something like "DebugView" to see what our driver is saying about the loss of connection.
