ACTIVInspire - Personalised Toolboxes
Here in school we use a mandatory profile as such I am assuming that if a teacher changes their toolbar in ACTIVInspire then it will not stick (e.g. adding clocks, tools etc).
Is there a way of changing the program so that settings for the toolbar are kept? Could the toolbar configuration be saved in the users home directory?
ANy advice on this would be welcome,

Unless you have used an admin.ini file, if the teacher makes a change to the profile once loaded on their machine, then it will stay as they have edited it.
What you can do, is "lock" down a particular profile, however, the problem here is that once you lock this down, teachers cannot make any changes whatsoever to the profiles. (We have an enhancement request for this to be allowed).
All the "profiles" (or toolbars) are kept in...
C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\Activ Software\ActivInspire\My Resources\My Profiles by default.
If you had a specific profile that you wanted users to be able to use / edit, you could either push out the .profile so it lives in the above location for each individual user, or simply use an admin.ini file to point it to a specific location where everyone can access.
Here's a bit more info on the admin.ini too if you need it....
Hope this helps!

Thanks for that - but I want each member of staff to have their profile follow them around even with a mandatory profile. SO any toolbox changes are kept.
This is why I thought perhaps the .profile could be kept in their home directory. We use U:\ for home directory so if there was a directory U:\My Settings\ACTIVInspire\ could I then store the .profile file in there and let users edit and keep their own.
How do I get it to point to that? [Edit: I see Option 2 of the admin.ini file could be the one to use]

Yep, if their "My Docs" folder is mapped, it should do this automatically - so when they log onto another machine, they should see the .profiles in their My Docs\Activ Software\ActivInspire\My Profiles folder.
By default, there are I think 5 standard profiles (At the board \ Authoring \ Media etc etc etc) so if you wanted to create another one for example, called "school.profile", you could add that into their My Docs\Activ Software\ActivInspire\My Profiles folder, and when they click on the change profiles button on the toolbar, it would be availible for them to select.
If they make changes to any of these profiles, the changes will be saved in their My Docs folder - so if this is mapped on your network to say the U:\, they would see it.
If this is the case, then there is no need to use the admin.ini file.
If you wanted to specify a location (because they aren't mapped), you could use key 0 of the admin.ini file - so your admin.ini would be something like this...
0=\\servername\%user name%\My Settings\Inspire profiles
I think that should work!

Problems saving profiles
I am new to Activinspire and am trying to edit my profiles..."At board, Authoring, etc..." I chose the tools that I wanted to add to each toolbar, added them, placed them where I wanted them, then clicked save. They toolbars are set exactly as I want them until I close out Activinspire. When I reopen they are back to the original settings. I have tried this several times and the toolbar always returns to the original settings. Any suggestions on what I need to do to fix this issue? Thanks!

We originally went back to ASPro3 instead of pushing Inspire out. I believe at the time I wrote my original post we were on the initial release. Now that v1.6 is out I've started looking at the application again and am meeting members of staff to decide the best configuration for them.
