Hi,
The new version of ActivInspire has quite literally just been released. There are several new features in this update including new features such as:
Pen Modifier Tools
Page Turn effects
Multiple Page Select Drag and Drop
Self Paced Export to Excel
There are also numerous bug fixes that have been included. If anyone is having any issues with ActivInspire, the first reccomendation would be to update to this latest version - the update is available via the software (Help - Check For Updates) and is being uploaded to Interactive Whiteboard Community - Educational and Teacher Resources : Promethean Planet today.

1st May 2010, 11:34 AM #2 I have to say I do like ActivInspire.
Its great to see a company spend time and money developing their software. We've had Promethean boards in place now for 7+ years and the software / drivers just keep improving.
Keep up the good work.
(Such a shame the manufacture of boards was moved out of the UK though)

10th May 2010, 01:32 PM #4 Hi CMSSBRIE,
Could you clarify the licence terms for the new 1.4 version? Are we allowed to use the Personal Edition still without a promethean board or are we required to apply for a licence? I am slightly confused!

17th May 2010, 09:29 AM #5 Hi,
Apologies for the delay - I was away last week.
Anyway, the license for 1.4 is pretty much 'as it was' - in that Personal Edition can be downloaded / obtained by anybody, and be used / installed on any computer to view or create flipcharts.
The change in the license comes in if you are using a competitor product with Inspire Personal Edition - For example another manufacturer's whiteboard. You are no longer allowed to use the Personal Edition on their board, and then must 'apply' for the license as outlined on the ActivInspire download page should you wish to use it.
As an example, if you have 500 computers all with Personal Edition installed, and none of these computers will connect to another manufacturers equipment, and be used with that equipment, you are still free to use Personal Edition. If you have 1 computer with Personal Edition installed, and you intend to use that computer on a / with a competitors piece of kit, you would need to apply for the 'Teacher Consent License' described on the ActivInspire 1.4 download page.
Hope that clears things up!

17th May 2010, 09:37 AM #6 Hi
I have just removed version 1.2 by unlinking in gpo and deploying 1.4 with gpo and its uninstalled and installed ok. A couple of teachers have used it and not complained yet so its a good start.

By Teacher Consent Licence does that mean purchase the Professional Licence? We have 1 board in our maths Dept that would benefit from an edition of the Promethean Software as all the rest of the boards in maths which have been purchased since this one (a long time ago) are promethean. We would benefit from just being able to use the basic resources included with the 'Personal' edition would the teacher consent licence cover that? Or is it only covering the use of resources purchased from Promethean Planet?

17th May 2010, 10:05 AM #8 Yep - the 'Teacher Consent License' would cover that - you wouldn't need to purchase Pro edition if all you need is the standard resources that ship with Personal Edition.
Hope this helps!

Excellent, am just looking at the possiblity of standardising the software on our Maths dept PC's!! I am just in the process of filling in the information, just to check does this licence include use of the 'Free' resource pack?
I have created the network packages for the main Promethean Boards and am just testing them out now.
Thanks

17th May 2010, 10:33 AM #10 Yep - the 'free' resource pack is covered as it is part of the software it's self.
