4th January 2012, 09:50 AM #1 Millgate January Promo To Cheer Everyone Up
Happy New Year Everyone,
Getting back to work after Xmas is one of the hardest things ever! No more lay ins, no more late nights & no more stuffing your face with turkey & pigs in blankets (vegetarian options are available!)
To make this transition a bit easier, i'll be doing a January giveaway for all orders placed before 1st Feb. Each order over £500 for secondary schools, colleges & companies & £250 for primary schools will get the schools name entered into the draw. Any new customer will get an extra entry.
The prizes are:
Winner - iPad 2 16gb wifi
2 runners up - A luxury hamper each worth £150
10 lucky dips - A chocolate pizza each! ( these are amazing
)
Hopefully this will put a smile back on those glum faces! Any questions, just say. Good luck to everyone!
Luke

18th January 2012, 11:51 AM #4 Two weeks today i'll be doing the draw! There's been plenty of entries so there's going to be some happy Geeks
To use a over used line - "YOU'VE GOTTA BE IN IT TO WIN IT!"
Let me know if you need anything
By the way - some people aren't Apple fans so if you win and you'd prefer another tablet, that's fine

18th January 2012, 12:52 PM #8 Don't mean to put a downer on this and IANAL, but isn't it illegal to run a competition which requires a purchase as it's classed as a lottery and you need a lottery operators licence?

Erm......i'll look into that. Just trying to have a bit of fun
If people don't want to be included in the draw, just let me know. Just trying to help some schools!

18th January 2012, 01:10 PM #10 I think to not be classified as a lottery it either has to:
Have an element of skill involved for example asking a question that would eliminate a significant number of entrants
or
Have an alternative free entry method.
There is a whole load of other stuff you're also meant to do as well from what I can see. Turns out running a simple fun competition isn't that simple! lol
Personally I think its a whole load of legislation that isnt really necessary, and there should be some sort of excemtion of total prize value is below x ammount.

18th January 2012, 01:15 PM #11 I never thought it'd be so hard giving things away! Ha.
I'll input an element of skill. Whoever i draw out of the hat HAS TO answer a tricky general knowledge question before they win anything. Get revising guys!
I hope this promo hasn't offended anyone and like i said, if you don't wish to take part, just let me know
Good luck to those of you that have entered or are going to enter

Does convincing your SLT to part with £500 or more of their budget class as an element of skill?

18th January 2012, 01:23 PM #13 I dont think many people would be offended by the chance of free stuff for their school, although why we are on the topic - (Maybe this thread wants splitting now?) - Most of us in public sector schools cannot personally accept gifts from suppliers, so the only competitions we can enter are ones where the school can win something. Not sure what's involved in a chocolate pizza (although it does sound good) but i'd guess this is unlikely to be something the 'school' could win without an individual personally benifiting?
Also with regards to your current competition, I believe the question has to be at the point of entry, otherwise technical its still a lottery, whereby you win the chance to win a prize?
Not being difficult, personally I dont have an issue with it at all, just commenting on what was raised earlier.
Maybe there is a need for some edugeek competition guidlines? Its entirely possible some of what i've said isn't 100% accurate, it wouldnt be the first time!

18th January 2012, 01:31 PM #14 Anything i give away in this competition or the next will be for the school and you can then use it as you wish. EG you could use the chocolate pizza as a raffle prize or whatever you want.
I'll revise it a bit then. If you are eligible to enter, BEFORE i put your schools name in the hat i will ask you a question. Only if you get it right will i enter your name.
This started as a bit of fun and something for people to look forward to in Jan when everyone is a bit down because the Xmas break is over. Come on guys, smile

18th January 2012, 01:40 PM #15 Didn't mean to be difficult, I don't have an issue with it at all!
On something much more important, can you explain what exactly a chocolate pizza is? Maybe a picture? :-)
