Would love to be able to purchase something other than Dell, Apple, HP or Compaq unfortunately the council (west lothian) restricts us to buying from authorised suppliers

Ah ha. That's a breach of the EU anti-competition laws.

No I think they have a way around the EU rules, we "can" order from others but we have to get it all authorised, added onto our PECOS procurement system and all sorts. In the end it'd take about 4 months to order 1 PC that wasn't on an approved list.

It's insane!
