Jonny 5!!! No!!!
Is being remade - Hugely fond memories of both original films so this is a little bit worrying if anything. I am intrigued though as to what they can do with modern tech.
Jonny 5!!! No!!!
when you say re made - you mean as in making a 3rd one or as in being digitally re mastered or what exactly ?
Johnny 5 is Alive !!!
due out in 2013 and it is a reboot (probably the same premise as the first Short Circuit, but with different actors and a CGI Johnny 5).
Dimension Films is making a deal with Tim Hill to direct its reboot of Short Circuit, the 1986 film about an experimental robot manufactured to be a weapon until a lightning strike fills it with intelligence. It runs away and befriends a fractured family, the military in hot pursuit. Hill directed the Illumination pic Hop and Fox's Alvin and the Chipmunks. Dimension optioned the remake rights in 2009, originally signing Paul Blart: Mall Cop helmer Steve Carr and screenwriter Dan Milano. The project has languished and Hill is being brought in to supervise a new script and get the iconic robot Johnny 5 moving. David Foster, who produced the original, is producing with Ryan E. Heppe and John Hyde. Hill is repped by Gersh and Principato-Young. (Source)Dimension Films is currently working out the details of a deal with director Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks) to call the shots on the new Short Circuit. Hill is also up to supervise a new draft of the screenplay, though there’s no word yet on who his collaborator will be.
Hill has a long history of delivering candy-colored, safe-for-all ages pics, including the first Chipmunks movie, Hop, Muppets From Space, and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties – not to mention, his longtime position as a staff writer for the TV series SpongeBob SquarePants. (Source)

Oh for heaven's sake.............
Is nothing sacred?
Will we be getting every 80's film re-hashed?
I know that there's a limited number of stories you can tell....but isn't it about time that the general public stood up and said "Give us some original films, not the same old rubbish pts 4,5 & 6"
There's a lot to be said for independent films, and those from the Far East!
Shall we have the list of films that were brilliant in their day (or even not in this case!), stand the test of time today, and have been remade AWFULLY!
Planet of the Apes
Just you see, they'll remake Casablanca next...
They are doing Total Recall... although that was not brilliant the first time around. In fact most Arnie films should be left well alone!
Although, The Running Man, now there was a good film that 'could' be made even better with the right actor...
