Well, they have already started re-hashing films from 2002 so I think they must have already run out of 80's (and 90's) films.

It seems Hollywood is intent on remaking almost every single film Arnie has done. Red Sonja is being re-made (hopefully with Amber Heard as Sonja ), as is Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer. I bet True Lies, Last Action Hero, Eraser or End of Days will be next.

IMO They completely naffed up Predator 3, I was expecting something a lot lot better then what they came up with.

Predators was a lot better than Aliens vs Predator: Requiem though.

    That's nothing. 2010 saw a pretty much shot-for-shot remake of a 2007 film.
Not suggesting that the story is a particularly brilliant one, sometimes it's simply not necessary to remake something. Normally because you're not offering anything new to the story, sometimes because you run the risk of spoiling the original!

Yes. Yes there is. I've watched quite a few Sundance-type indy films in previous year, and they're much more original. Film4/Lottery Commission funded films have more to say than your average remake/reboot, too. It's a shame some of these films don't get more exposure.

    Only a three year difference!

Let The Right One In from 2008 was remade in 2010 as Let Me In and the English-remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo from 2009 is due to be released this year. American's sure don't like subtitles.

there is a lot to be said for far east movies yes, unfortunately once they get popular hollywood usually latches on and remakes it with CGI and simplify the plot so audiences understand (as in the ring!)
