Lie to me yes, House no.
It was announced a few days ago that House has been given an 8th series.

13th May 2011, 09:52 AM #4 Some shows are meant to be canned like the new Knight Rider series which would have been good but they messed it up. I was a bit sad when they canned flash forward I was enjoying that.
Sliders was awesome!

well thats some good news, I think I read something about Hugh Laurie's contract running out soon though, and it might not be renewed.

13th May 2011, 09:57 AM #6 Sci-fi shows are hugely expensive to produce, so justifying their existence is much harder than other genres. So, Stargate Universe had its work cut out for it from the start.
Shows come and go, but there's usually something out there to watch. My current batch of shows are Chuck, Eureka, Big Bang Theory, Warehouse 13, Burn Notice, and White Collar. No doubt some will be cancelled soon though.

13th May 2011, 09:57 AM #7 Worst decision ever was to cancel Carnivale. Most awesome show ever.

13th May 2011, 10:00 AM #8 Did anyone watch Las Vegas? They canned it during the writers strike and didn't even finish the final season! Gutted!!!

13th May 2011, 10:03 AM #9 don't give me firefly. they cancelled dark angel just so they could run with that instead!
i think lost had the right idea, get a story (albeit flaky in places) and have beginning and end and account for just those seasons. same as prison break, have a natural conclusion.

13th May 2011, 10:05 AM #10 One show I enjoyed which was canned after only one season, was Jericho. Fans complained and kicked up a fuss, so a second season was commissioned. Unfortunately, they made a half-baked attempt at it, the ratings took a nose-dive and it was then cancelled half-way through with a poor ending. Shame.
But as localzuk mentioned, shows do come and go and there is usually something good to watch. If not, it's hopefully just around the corner

13th May 2011, 10:12 AM #11 yeah its the whole unfinished plot lines thing that annoys me, at least firefly had some closure with the film. I was hoping for that for SGU but apparently they have ripped up the sets and have no plans for it.
Lie 2 me was the big disappointment for me though cant have cost that much to make.

13th May 2011, 10:13 AM #12 The series that really annoyed me when it got cancelled was Flash Forward, brilliant idea for a show but you had to think about the science involved i think the reason is got cancelled as was the american had to think to much to watch it.But at least fringe is filling the void at the moment.
Just need a new west wing!

13th May 2011, 10:17 AM #13 The only people at fault for getting SGU canceled are the writers for having such an awful 1st season. They had a really good setup but spent half the time on Earth dealing with soap opera style problems with the crew's family. I really didn't give a fig that Chloe's friends never liked her or that the commanders wife was having an affair.
Of course, they did realise this but by the time Season 2 started a lot of people had already given up on it which is a shame.
It does annoy me tho that the networks don't respect the audience that the show has and at least give them advanced notice of cancellation or a budget to create a TV movie to finish off the story properly. It really puts me off watching American TV shows now until I know they have an established large audience as I know I'll just end up frustrated when a show gets canceled on a cliffhanger.
I was a bit sad when they canned flash forward I was enjoying that.
I gave up after 5 episodes of that, as American TV seasons are so long they dragged the story out, only revealing a bit at the end. It should have been an 8 or 13 episode season, so the story could move at a decent pace.

13th May 2011, 10:22 AM #14 I wasnt very happy when they brought ashes to ashes to a close. But in a way they ended it on a high and the show didnt get boring.

13th May 2011, 10:25 AM #15 Yeah. I didn't like the first season of that show as it was all very same with the first of life on mars "omg I'm in the past, this isn't real etc" but I thought 2nd and 3rd season were absolutely brilliant, probably some of the best British TV I've watched.
But yeah, it's probably best it ended when it did, they couldn't really drag it out forever without it becoming boring or like flash forward, i.e only hints of the bigger picture at the end of each episode.
