Faithless at the CIA were amazing - To All New Arrivals tour in 2007. The live percussion was something else. Calvin Harris was there, seriously frosty reception to the berk.
Saw REM on the Accelerate tour in 2008, very good too.

Mine too, and a bit pointless after the awesome show last year couldn't be beaten!

I'm sure the one you are thinking off is the 1986 concert, I believe that was their last live show at Wembley. Got it on DVD - I too wish I could have been there.
I think you are right, all I know is I was very young then, but have a love for them since growing up!

I've been to more festivals than gigs as I consider them better balue for money but if you're just on about bands in general then I'd say these are some of my top bands for performance:

    Feeder (Leeds 2006 and 2008)
    Tenacious D (Leeds 2008)
    Slash (at Download 2010)
    Arctic Monkeys (Leeds 2006)
    The Enemy (Leeds 2008)
Pigeon Detectives (I think it was Leeds 2006)
    Muse (Leeds 2006)
    AC/DC (MEN Arena 2009)

There are loads more that I've missed but performance-wise, these aare the ones I remember most.

Muse, muse and muse. Fantastic live band. Haven't seen them for a couple of years though.
More recently I've been working the festivals... so I've been able to watch some great bands from the side of stage, which adds to the excitement a little.

I can't imagine working the festivals would be as much fun as getting wrecked in a field and going on like a knob. Lol. Then again I've never tried the working bit.

I went to Live8, that was incredible.
Lynnrd Skynnrd were amazing (albeit the new Skynnrd, unfortunately old Skynnrd died long before I was born!)
    Velvet Revolver were awesome
Paul Weller is always great to watch
    Aynsley Lister is fantastic live
Foo Fighters are definitely one of the best live bands

Muse - HAARP at wembley + Vfest 2 years back....jaw-dropping
QOTSA - Liverpool academy+ Reading...best band in the world.
RATM - Reading t'other year...any fans will know why this was ace
Jose Gonzalez - only acoustic gig I've been to...loved it
Jim Jones Revue - 3 weeks ago in Leicester...great band

Speaking of bands (get it?) why has the OP been given the boot?

I was also at Live8. Not sure I'd use the word 'incredible' unless you are describing the crowd. You couldn't see a patch of grass in Hyde Park that day.

Macca's opening with U2 was good. Pete Docherty was famously interesting (as was the look on Elton's face). Richard Ashcroft and Youssou N'Dour where highlights.

I think it could mostly be summed up as a day of standing around waiting for Robbie and then being disappointed that we had to leave before Pink Floyd came on because of the trains

Pink Floyd - Pulse - Earl's Court - 1994 (Stunning, get the DVD if you weren't there; possibly the finest concert lighting the world had seen to that point, may still be)
    Pink Floyd - The Wall - Earl's Court - about '79
John Martyn - Salisbury Squash Court - 08? about a year before he died

Your experience sounds million miles away from mine! Velvet Revolver were incredible, Robbie Williams was (I hate to admit) really good, REM were great, Pink Floyd were astounding (and I did get to see the whole set)... Brilliant day I thought! Only part I hated was queuing for 4 hours to get in, though the gay pride parade made even that interesting lol

I don't think so. I also saw Take That in Cardiff two years ago. George Michael is a guilty listen I must admit. My wife has lurved him since she was small. His music is good and his concert was excellent. The second concert was better than the first.

They were all seriously good concerts - albeit a bit camp perhaps.
