I always wear the gear, just when it's really warm and hot it's toooooo easy to leave it off......
The worse thing was having to go down to A&E and have it cleaned up......
You know what A&E staff call bikers..... Donors........

14th October 2008, 09:19 PM #77 HECK!
All this talk of accidents, and I get my first bike on Friday.
Only a 125cc, but I've never ridden a bike before and I'm doing my CBT tomorrow!
-
14th October 2008, 09:50 PM #78 What 125 are you getting ?
Do you drive a car ?
-
14th October 2008, 10:52 PM #79 yes I drive a car
the bike I'm getting is a Pioneer Nevada....
Look them up on ebay!
-
15th October 2008, 07:42 AM #80 At least you will have some road sense then. Just remember, everyone out there is trying to kill you. Have fun on your CBT.
Just checked out those Pioneer Nevadas - they have the classic Honda CG125 engine - those things never give up.

This is true. This morning it was a recycling truck randomly pulling out and an astra at a roundabout.
-
15th October 2008, 09:00 AM #82 Ohh I think the Astra was doing the rounds as I had one going at me on a mini roundabout! NIce toot of my puny horn stop him though
-
15th October 2008, 09:48 AM #83 I must replace the horn, [ can we say 'horn' ? ] on my FMX. It's too quiet Must be something else I can get.....

15th October 2008, 11:59 AM #84 I've only ever hit one motorcyclist..and he quite frankly asked for it.
Sat at a roundabout, car in front of me. Off he goes.
I pull forwards to the line. Look right, left, right, left..gap approaching..look right again to make 110% sure it's all clear, throttle down. Bang.
Silly basket had snuck up the inside of the car and pulled in front of me, over the line. Of course, smack into his arse with considerable force (1.6 auto), he got a flying lesson right over the roundabout and into the flowerbed.
I got out, I damn near throttled the stupid git and just raged at him with regard to rules of the road, and his chances of walking away before I reset the impact cutout and finish the bloody job..
He apologised profusely, and when I said "I want your details, boyo..." he jumped on the bent bike and shot off at speed.
Picked up the fragments of bumper and light, drove home with prolonged murder on my mind..swapped the bits off the spare car, good as new.

I keep meaning to figure out if I can fit a Stebel horn on mine. Its behind radiator currently so I may have to move it. I think it will be worth it though for one of these:
Infact for £13 I have just bought one of the 136DB ones. No big loss if it doesnt work. I would like one of the dual horns though.......

It has to be done I am afraid. If I knew it would fit on mine I would get one.

16th October 2008, 11:10 AM #89 I have a set of dixie airhorn if you're game for that..
They came off a Reliant Robin. Used to stall the car when used, as they overwhelmed the electrics and the alt.

16th October 2008, 11:26 AM #90 Well I know of a guy that fitted a ships horn to a Land Rover. Said he couldn't believe how quickly people & vehicles moved for some reason! Not sure it would work on a bike though.
Can you let us know/mini review when you guys get them. Getting more and more ashamed of my horn.
