    How have they shoehorned Legolas in? I don't remember that! No idea who ladyelf with him is either.

    It did look awesome though

    They're mixing in some of the back story from LOTR from what I can tell
    Gandalf disappears for ages at a time in The Hobbit and is explained in LOTR
    Legolas is from Mirkwood so reasonable for him to be there - though not mentioned in the book
    Not sure who LadyElf is though...

    Re Legolas. They have played a little fast & loose with the story. So far, nothing that would offend me as a fan of the books (except the bloody rabbits)!

    However, I hope it isn't as padded as the first episode. You could easily have chopped 1/2 an hour of "fights/chases etc" and still had a cracking film.
