    A Good Geek Read

Hi all, couldn't see a thread about this so thought I'd start one.

Any of you read any good "geek" books? I'm talking non-fiction.

I've almost finished reading Speccy Nation by Dan Whitehead and I'm really enjoying it - it's essentially a run down of the good, the bad and the ugly Spectrum games.

"Masters of Doom" about the two Johns who founded ID games was a decent read.

I read this back in Jan and found it a fascinating read: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Charts the growth of the video games industry from it's humble birth on the PDP-1 through to the dawn of the current gen.

Both sound great! Added to my slowly expanding Amazon wish list for when I clear my already epic backlog lol

Backroom Boys by Francis Spufford - about great British geek achievements. It has a fascinating chapter about the development of the Game "Elite" but covers a lot of other stuff too.
Another book by him "Red Plenty" about the command economics of the Soviet State in the 50's sounds really dull but is actually brilliant as an example of how NOT to do it, and very funny.
