Outlook 2010 not saving Sent Items to PST file.

We use Exchange 2003 and I've just installed Outlook 2010.

I've always had my computer set up to download all items from the server and save in a local PST file, all incoming mail is saved to the local Inbox and all Sent Items are stored in the local Sent Items box.

Since installing 2010 incoming mail is working as above, getting moved from the server to the local PST file.

Sent Items however are not.

They are been stored in the server's Sent Items and if I want to move then from the server to the local PST file I have to do this manually.

Any ideas on how to sort it?

I've tried with Cached Mode on and off.

Sorry, I can't help with this but I'm intrigued as to why you want to do it!

I can understand that you might want your email to be available if you're off line from the server but that's what cached mode is for. I can also understand that you might want more email than you can keep on the server (but I would archive selected email to a PST to get round that, not the whole lot!)

Just a personal opinion, but PST files are pretty much the spawn of Satan and if you can avoid them then you should :-)

I know it's not the proper method but it's served me well for tha past 7 years and not really wanting to change now lol.

Can you do it with a rule?

I am not hooked up to Exchange so I am not sure it's the same, but Outlook willl allow me to copy a sent message to a folder.

I am trying this but with mixed results.

I can get it to put a copy into my PST Sent Items but it then needs 'marking as read' and it also remains in my Mailbox Sent Items so then will need deleting from there also.

I'm determined to find a better way than having a rule to move it, a rule to mark it read and a rule to do two deletions!
