Word 2003/7: addin to save time when marking or grading assignments and using rubrics
Several people have asked about tools to help them mark electronic assignments. I've been a long time user of Word's autotext, comments and track changes and recently created an addin to make it easier for people to provide useful, detailed, and timely feedback on electronic assignments and the use of automated marking rubrics.

The software is an add-in to Microsoft Word (all versions of Word for Windows) which allows markers to quickly insert comments from a floating toolbar using the mouse or keyboard. These comments can be very detailed and can contain text, tables, images, hyperlinks, audio or anything else you can insert into a Word document. Inserted comments can be modified and markers can easily store new comments for future reuse and the comment bank can be easily moved to another computer or saved for future reuse. Existing users tend to have several comment banks e.g. a comment bank that is shared across a department as well as course and assignment specific comment banks. eMarking Assistant reduces marking time, increases student satisfaction and also reduces the need for moderation. A comment bank focusing on academic writing is supplied. The package also contains suggested workflow when marking electronic assignments and modifiable marking rubrics which automatically add and rescale marks.
Also included are Word based marking rubrics which you can easily select standards and record marks using function keys and then automatically total and rescale these. Instructions for adding your own criteria, standards and marks are included.
