I have purchased Expression Studio Web Professional 4.0 volume license and downloaded it from the Volume Licensing Service Center. In the VLSC it says "This product does not require a product key."
I deployed it to the school's computers via GPO (just deployed the msi files) in August. After about 2 months, all the clients began requesting product keys for Expression Web. They give the option of a trail period, which is slowly running out (18 days left now).
Expression Web was working happily without a product key for 2 months, now it say it needs one. Has an update caused this (SP2 went on recently)?.
I've looked again at the VLSC to see if there's an updated Expression Web to use, but there isn't. I could redeploy but this may just postpone the problem for another month.
In 18 days Expression Web may refuse to run. What do I need to do?
Fixed it after finding the solution for Expression Studio 3.x on appdeploy.com.
The msi's have the keys built in in the PROOFOFPURCHASE property. However, deploying the msi files via GPO results in an installation with no key on a 60-day trial period. After 30 days it nags for the key.
I found the correct key in the WebStudioManifest.xml file in the WebStudioManifest.cab file. I created an mst file to apply this key to the PROOFOFPURCHASE property in the Web_en.msi and Design_en.msi files.
It works. The app installs correctly licensed.
