Excel - Convert text to lowercase

    Hi all,

Apparently, many versions ago, Excel had the function to change a highlighted cell to lower/upper/proper case text.

I've only known Excel to change text case via a formula/macro, but you need a source cell and a destination cell.

The caller is adament the function to change the text case without a formula is still in Excel and wants us to find the 'button'. I was wondering if there actually is (or ever has been) a function do change text case? As the caller doesn't want to sift through this large spreadsheet finding the particular cells that need changing text case.

Not the correct way of doing it as you describe but more of a dirty work around, have microsoft word open, copy said chunk of text from the cell, go to word

Paste into word , highlight text --> go to Format --> Change Case --> select relevant option and click ok

Copy the ammended text and paste back into excel

Bit of a dirty work around but thats how I would do it

Short of making your own VBA Form with said code ?

Short of that there is the upper, lower and proper functions :

    =UPPER(CELL_REF)
    =Lower(CELL_REF)
    =Proper(CELL_REF)

Probably had a macro button at some point to do that

I think it's getting too close Friday ... I can't find Format (or anything relating to Change Case) in Word 2010 :S

The caller is more after a solution that she can do herself ... meaning VBA or any code writting is straight out the window.

How to Change Text Case in Word 2010

I am used to word 2003, never used 2010 yet

According to the link above - Shift + F3

Unless you are using the toolbar menu option as per the screen grab

To change text case, select the text for which you want to change and click the button with text Aa in the Home tab under font sub group.

    As above

    Awesome, that works a treat

    Thanks!

(I checked to see if that same drop-down list is in Excel, and it's not ... copy and paste like you suggested should do the trick though)

no problem - you're welcome, sorry been busy.

Frustrated now as can't find a compatable 2.5" to 3.5" adaptor to allow me to install my 2.5" SSD into my 2008 mac pro
