I've been asked if I can alter the default font on all the computers around the school (it's a image thing, just go with it). Now I'm wondering how to do that. So far I've come up with two ideas:
1: Set the templates on the server and then re-direct the users
2: Set the templates on the server and copy into their profile at login.
I was wondering if there is a third option such as being able to set it through a GPO or if anyone else has any ideas.
I don't think option 1 is that viable as last time I tried it Word complained as I wouldn't let the users write to my template. 2 is possible though will slow the login down a little. I probably need to do this for Word, powerpoint and Excel but it's jusst a case of copying the appropiate template.
Any suggestions.

Only downside is that by doing this you'll stamp over any customisations a user has made. I'd guess that won't affect many people but if you overwrite mine, I'll be very dischuffed :-)

There will be a few office staff exempt from this, it's mostly for the pupil's teachers. Still at least it lets me copy a word template which has a person's username ghosted into the footer.

22nd October 2009, 02:39 PM #4 If your users are using a mandatory profile, it is very easy.
Simply convert the profile to roaming (rename ntuser.man to ntuser.dat)
Logon as a user using this profile, change the default font.
Logoff and let the profile be written back to the server
Rename ntuser.dat back to ntuser.man and it's done
