Hello, I did some searching but couldnt really find some definative answers so I thought I would ask myself and see if I could get some confirmation
We are currently considering upgrading from Office 2003 to Office 2007, however there are a handful of issues that we are unsure of before making the switch.
Does Office 2007 work with Sims, this is the main concern for upgrading, however I have read that there are no issues with 2007 and Sims now.
Will all files currently saved in 2003 open in 2007 okay? I've heard issues with Access being awkward when trying to open older files in newer versions.
How well did the teaching staff take up 2007? We will give plenty of forewarning and training material etc, but do you have any good advice to help ease the process?
The students seem to be increasingly using Office 2007 and dispite the conversion packs and notices about saving as 95-2003 we still get a decent number of students needing us to convert them for us so any help would be greatly appreciated!![]()
Hi -
We upgraded about 7 or 8 months ago and can answer some of your questions.
Sims and Office 2007 work together OK. We haven't noticed any major issues.
Most files from 2003 work OK with 2007 in our experience. There are a few minor exceptions, in particular with Word documents containing embedded pictures/charts. Sometimes they don't/won't print correctly and have to be re-created as a 2007 document and text/images pasted in. However, that problem thankfully doesn't happen too often.
The teaching staff have accepted 2007 quite easily. More easily than we expected to be truthfulThere are quite a lot of free training materials on the MS web site.
The student conversion issue seems to better since we went to 2007. We do still get a few with MS Works documents which they have created at home, but not too bad.
Hope this helps?
Andrew
I'd just add DON'T run both versions on the same machine
If people want the same menus either install open office or use
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/tr...5841033.aspx#1
which is great set of demo's where you go to the menu you want in 2003 it shows you where to find it in 2007
