[MS Office] Office Live - what do you know about it?

Microsoft Office Live Small Business and Microsoft Office Live Workspace

I saw this at a presentation at BETT and have just registered to have a poke around. It's the Ofice applications on the net - access from anywhere with controlled file sharing and no need to have Office installed on whatever device you use to access your workspace.

Has anyone had any experience of it? It's free... which worries me with M$ as there has to be a catch.

I believe the catch is you must be tied into a subscription of sorts per user. When I spoke with them at BETT, they said that it being on the net is a good thing, but having say 50 people trying to use it, winds up being slow and useless.

The subscription fee IF I remember rightly is something like £189.99 per person per year...

Microsoft say its free only because after the subscription you dont have to pay anything.

It does not work in Opera

It may end up embedding advertising

It’s free. No purchase or credit card information is required. Microsoft Office Live Workspace beta may eventually include advertising, but we’re still testing different designs. At some point, we may also offer additional features or services at a charge.
It's a beta and so may crash more often that normal software

Thats all I could come up with on short notice
