    SP3 Update

    I'm currently in the process of coding up a group of batch files which have the purpose of commissioning new laptops on to a network. The install process splits down like so:

    - Output Package Name;
    - Looks for a Control File;

    If the control file is found it writes to a text file and aborts to the next application install.

    If the control file is not found it starts an automated install.

    After an attempt to install it searches again for the control file. It then writes a success or fail to a textfile.

    However, with Office 2003, I need to know of a file that the SP3 Update installs to be able to use the logic above/below. Any ideas?

    not knowing on SP3 files for Office... but, why not make your own file somewhere, or a registry key?

    I'm sure there's probably a registry key for SP3... there is one for Office 2007 SP1 (which is all I have access to at home)

    That's in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration

    I've just done a quick hunt through the registry and found one reference to the Office 2003 SP3 Update.

    I'll have a play with the batch files, to see if it works across multiple machines, in a little while.

    Shall keep you posted.

    Not what you asked, but you could just slipstream SP3 into your O2K3 to make that problem go away.
