[MS Office - 2003] Outlook Auto Reply

Hi there

If you setup an auto reply in Outlook 2003 that is connected to exchange server does outlook need to be open for the auto reply to work?

If you set it up using the out of office assistant that should run from the server. If you use rules, its depends but will tell you if the rule needs to run locally(which will require the machine on and logged in), otherwise if it will run from the server it will not need to be logged in.

Edit:
Auto reply on an address box that receives external mail is the quickest way to suddenly have thousnads of spam emails a day ;-)
