Just dump the O12Conv.msi in the GP software container and it should install fine

remember you must keep the folder structure, you select the MSI file in your group policy.
that msi file uses the compressed .cab file and the contents from the subfolder.

Here's an app i wrote recently

    http://borris.is-a-geek.net/DOCXtoDOCBulkConvertor.rar (Ver 1.0)

it's easy to use (but you must have Office 2007 installed). Basically it enumerates *.docx in a folder (also the choice to do a recursive search) and then it'll open and convert each one. It also gives you the option to either overwrite it (rename) or make a copy.

This version doesnt have command line support, but the next will (I'll update it over the next day or two).

Any problems, feel free to PM me. Please considure it beta software. If it comes across an error it'll skip that file, but it's better to test it out on a batch of files first to make sure it's fine on your system.

    Adi

(P.s. sorry downloads will be slow, it's hosted on my home server!)

We have Office 2007 in school so its not an issue with us having to install the compatibility pack its the users outside of school - to tell them to download and install the compatibility pack sounds easy in principal....

Thanks for the info Bossman and stratisphere, the command line support on your program sounds exactly what im after.

    Cheers

Indeed, that why govt advice is still not to use docx in school. It's much easier (and cheaper) to tell students and other organisations to go install openoffice.

You know docx is changing soon so it can meet it's iso requirements!
soon msoffice (2007sp2) will be using odt anyway - so you might as well install the Sun compatibility pack for odt, set it as default and migrate ODT already. just like becta said in 2005
