I have a student that created a document using "Pages" on her Mac at home. However, she took it to school, but can't print it, because we have all pc's. Does anyone know of any program or any way that I can convert this for her? Thanks in advance!

I don't know of a specific converter, but she can save in word format from Pages on her Mac.

I tend to try and open things in Open Office if they have been created in some other software. However, if it is for work done at home, I tend to advise them to do a save as and change the format to either an ealier version of word, or an rtf.

As localzuk says ... save as > word ... dead easy.
I always save my pages files as word, just in case someone wants them. I also save them as PDF too.
For Keynote I save as powerpoint, flash and PDF.
I still don't bother with Numbers but friends do and they tend to save as .xls anyway for ease.

Thanks for the reply, I tried opening it from Open Office, but no luck. I will just have to tell her to save it as a different format. Thanks again!
I made a program a while back that converts it to TXT file.

so, that link was only a screen shot. do you have a .pages to .txt converter? how do I download it? sorry if I missed the obvious..thanks
Try clicking the download link at the top of the page.

If you get rid of the space between the http:// and the rest of the url and enter that into your address bar that should take you to the correct page for the pages to txt convertor that was posted above.
Otherwise as stated above when using pages go to the save as option and just save it as the relevant format.

Or you could point him at the actual file![]()

If all you need to do is print it:
Extract files using winrar
Look for the "Quicklook" folder and open the preview.pdf
Hi, what am I missing here? I downloaded the program and it looked for an .xml file to convert. Pages creates documents with a .pages extension. I'm dying to try this program. :-)

The program explains what you need to do -
1. Browse to your document.pages folder
2. Extract the xml file from index.tar.gz inside it (.pages documents aren't files, they're containers).
3. Use the add button to add the file to the converted list
4. Repeat
5. Push Convert to TXT button to convert.
Oh, right, I see - you are assuming I have access to the original folder where the .pages file is located. I just have the .pages file. Sigh...back to the drawing board. Thanks anyway!
