    Excel VBA help

Looking for someone that knows what they are doing with vba,
One of the teachers is developing a tracking sheet for pupils.

It is set up at the moment so that there is an overview sheet with cells that has a dropdown box with a list of grades in. On another sheet call ( detailed for example) there is a cell that is set to equal what is in the cell on the overview sheet. This works its basically cell = sheetname ( cell ref ) .

However they want to be able change the cell as it is now and for it to reflect that in the detailed sheet but also for them to be able to have a drop down box in the detailed sheet that would = the other sheet but if changed would then alter the other sheet value to.

    Hope that makes sense.

So you have two cells on different sheets and you want to be able to manually change either of them, which will result in the other one being set to reference the changed value, so whichever one you change, they both show the same value?

I feel I have to be "that guy" here - why aren't you using your MIS?

Excel was never intended to act as a database, you can force most database features upon it but it soon becomes an unwieldy mess... not that there aren't good reasons to use Excel of course!

Yes but preferably with each cell containing the same dropdown box (name and range defined for dropdown box). Needs to be in excel.

You could use the worksheet change event to monitor for changes, check if the change is to the cell (or cells) your are interested in and then copy the value to the other sheet IF the value is different.
