I've just got ubuntu setup and FOG installed and configured.
When i pxe boot a machine i get the ASCII art FOG logo and then i just get:
boot:
Booting from local disk...
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM
no Fog boot menu.
What have i done wrong or not configured?

Installed Ubuntu 10.04 instead of 11.10 and it's now fine

We are going through the same process although can't get the darn .sh file into the opt folder, no permisssions. grrrr
could you spare any time for some idiots instructions? :)
IS this to run the install script? Are you doing sudo tar -xvzf fog* after using wget to grab the tarball?

Ah okay. So, you downloaded the FOG tar file over the internet user wget? This is by far the easiest way to do it if not - don't mess around using any sort of GUI here, it's far harder!

So, at the terminal (Debian/Ubuntu/etc OS):
cd /opt
sudo wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/free...og_0.32.tar.gz
This will download the tarball to the /opt folder.
sudo tar -xvzf fog*
This will unpack the tarball to fog_0.32 folder in /opt
cd fog*
Enters this fog directory.
cd bin
Enter the bin directory (/opt/fog_032/bin)
sudo ./installfog.sh
Runs the installer script - and you're away!

I'll have a go at 'opt'ing to chuck my 'tarBalls' in the 'bin' and let you know how I get on. :)
He, yeah it's all greek when you start. I'm certainly no Linux expert, but there are some great guides for FOG out there that make it easy.
ok... something came up but on it now...

Tried it with the full filename but still no joy..:(
actually got a child error.. plot thickens
status 1, tar: is not recoverable..... call in super nanny!!
sudo tar-xvzffog* - looks like you're missing a space.
Try sudo tar -zxvf followed by the filename.
tried that too, might be a file corrupted during download....
Just try wget again on it - you can untar (tar -zxvf) it using the full or wildcard tags I think.
ot two now, new one with a 1 at the end... can't seem to delete and rename.. :( feel such an eeegit!
Enable SFTP on the server (apt-get install ssh openssh-server). Then use WinSCP (or whichever program you choose) to connect in - you can then delete files, drag and drop etc from your workstation. Makes management much easier, especially if you want to use different kernels.
