SCCM 2007 R2 with SQL Tech
I am trying to install WSUS on my SCCM server (this is not a big site so we have a single central server). So far, I have a fresh install of Windows Server 2008 R2 which is fully up to date. I have successfully installed the included SQL Server 2005 and updated to SP3. I'm now ready to install WSUS before I move on to the main SCCM install.
I'd like to use SQL Server 2005 to host the WSUS database as I will be running it for SCCM anyway. But when I get to the Database Options part of the installer, "Use an existing database server on this computer" is greyed out. Is there an extra step I need to do to get this working on Server 2008 R2? There were some extra hoops to jump through to get SQL Server 2005 installed, perhaps there is another?
I'm using the Windows Server 2008 R2 "add roles" function to do the WSUS install, but it doesn't change if I download the installer from MS Website. Also, I know the "with SQL Tech" license only covers the use of SQL server for SCCM. Although WSUS is another product, it will be completely managed by SCCM and I have read that it should be covered by the license terms. Is there a technical restriction why this is greyed out (like the database having to be named a certain way) ?
