Naming problems with WDS
Hi,
I am confused, back after Christmas and need to get a move on...
I have got my 2008 R2 WDS server working.
I can PXE boot, and either capture or create images to clients.
I have a image that when deployed, will join the domain, and place the machine in the correct OU via the WDS Properties and the WDS Unattended.xml
Happy Days BUT ! !
The problem is the name ! It creates a generic name when it joins the domain, which is fine for a few machines, but I have 1300 clients and we like to be able to audit them with ease, i.e. how many is in which location etc.
What I would like is the machine to prompt for a name on the client at some stage when getting deployed ?
Would I be better looking at using MDT along side this ?
Computers get moved frequently so using the prestaged option is not really workable.
