Problems with customsettings.ini file in MDT
HI,
I’m having a bit of a problem with my customsettings.ini file in MDT and wondered if anyone has had the same issue and/or a solution.
My settings file is working fine with task sequences for deploying images and USMT, however I have the lines:
SkipCapture=YES
DoCapture=NO
As the general techs using the MDT won’t be creating images or using it to back up. However, if I want to at some point use the MDT to capture an image I have to enable the line to:
SkipCapture=NO
DoCapture=YES
The problem is that this seems to be messing with any deployments that may be going on at the same time as me changing the customsettings.ini file, and having the lines always set to do a capture messes with the deployment.
Is there a way of being able to change the customsettings.ini file whilst others are using the MDT or better settings for the file to have the capture always enabled?
Shame there isn’t a customsettings.ini file for each task sequence.
Thanks for reading. Hope someone can give me some pointers
Rob

So for example you could create a capture share with the SkipCapture=NO and DoCapture=Yes options set, then another share for the techs to use when deploying images to machines with the SkipCapture=YES and DoCapture=NO options.

HI,
Yeah it's an option I'm considering if there's no other way to do it. Was going to setup a Virtual Image with MDT just for capturing and link it to the existing deployment share.
Thanks,
Rob
