    [fog] really slow loading

I have "upgraded" our fog server to have a 1Gb NIC yet the network boot from a client seems to take much longer

    Loading fog/kernel/bzImage..... (about 1 minute)

    Loading fog/kernel/init.gz..... (about 5 minutes)

I have also upgraded versions (from .28 to .29). I have tried using the full KS kernel as well as the PS (the PS loads ever so slightly quicker, but not much).

Any idea on why this may be happening or how I can troubleshoot this issue?

    Regards,

    Andy Whitlock

What '1Gb' nic did you use? el cheapo or something 'good'? It may be a driver issue.

    Geoff - it's a broadcom. Ethtool suggests it's running at 1Gbs!

Try another NIC. I'd suggest an Intel card.

Intel card solved the issue - so thank you Geoff. Only problem now is multicasting - which I'm guessing is our switches!
